A glance at Iran's petroleum products sector

The overall picture of Iran's liquid fuels production, consumption level is clear; producing 230 million and consuming 219.5 million liter of gasoline, diesel, fuel oil and kerosene per day.
According to the latest report, published by Shana citing on Iran's Anti-Contraband And Currency Smuggling Headquarters, the country's liquid fuels production and consumption level have been decreased by 5 percent and 14 percent during the ten months of current fiscal year.
Iran's fiscal year starts on March 21.
Addressing the details of liquid fuels consumption, National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company's Vice President Mansour Riyahi told IRNA two weeks ago that Iran consumed 250 million liters per day of various fuel production, including compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquid petroleum gas (LPG).

The reason for the decline in Iran's liquid fuel consumption is the significant increase in the country's gas delivery to power plants.
Iran increased supplying natural gas to power plants by 13 billion cubic meters (bcm) during last 11 months. It's expected that the diesel and fuel oil consumption in power sector would decrease from 27 billion liters in last your to 18.5 billion liters in current fiscal year, according to the Deputy Oil Minister for Planning and Supervision On Hydrocarbon Resources Mansour Moezzemi.
Iran also stopped gas-oil import, but still imports about 4.5 million liters of gasoline per day.
Decreasing fuel oil consumption also opened more room for fuel exports. According to the official statistics, Iran's petroleum exports and bunkering increased significantly during the current year.

On the other hand, Iran bunkered over 3.1 million metric tons of fuel to ships sailing through the Gulf in the first ten months of the current Iranian calendar year, which indicates a 30 percent increase on year.
Mohammad Reza Mazloumi, an official with the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company said three million metric tons of fuel oil and 107,000 metric tons of gas oil were supplied to ships in the 10-month period, Iran’s Shana news agency reported on Feb. 9.
